Why have I created this site?
The purpose of this site is to enable music fans around the world to attend a "virtual" music festival, to raise money for charity, available 24/7, without leaving their home! We have exclusive live performances recorded specially for the site, archive performances of artists performing live, some acoustic/unplugged, some full band gigs, various genres, and we hope to have some actual real-time live shows in the near future.
Please watch as many videos as you like, and all we ask is that if you enjoy what you see, please pop a small donation via the tip jatr image which links to our JustGiving page https://www.justgiving.com/music4charity and is donated directly to the wonderful Marie Curie charity www.mariecurie.org.uk to provide care and support to people with any terminal illness, often in their own homes for the final days.
We also have a Music Store where you can buy CDs and Downloads. These have been donated by the artists so the proceeds of all the sales are donated to the Marie Curie charity too.
Why is Marie Curie our preferred charity?
My husband Dave was totally fit and healthy, but we were given a shocking and devastating diagnosis that he had a terminal and aggressive Glioblastoma brain tumour on the 13th of January 2016 and then he was given the heartbreaking prognosis that he only had a couple of weeks to live.
With the help of a wonderful team of local District Nurses and Marie Cure Palliative Nurses, I was able to nurse him at home for his final weeks, until he passed away peacefully on February 25th, after a very brave and determined six week fight against the cancer. The homecare nursing team were so compassionate to both myself and my husband , and ensured he was as comfortable as possible, as he needed 24/7 care, but remained positive throughout.
Why a music-based fundraising site?
Dave was music lover, and he was also a great supporter of upcoming artists, some of whom attended his funeral, and they and other contacts of mine expressed an interest in us organising an event in Dave's memory.
Logistically that would be difficult, as they are in different parts of the country, but also I am not sure I am ready for such a challenge just yet, hence this idea of a "virtual festival" that can be "attended" from anywhere in the world!
